DESCRIPTION:Come to Buckingham County on Saturday\, April 25\, 2026 to the Curdsville Community Center for our first Barn Quilt Painting Class and enjoy a day of fun.  Please arrive at 9:45 a.m. class will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Fees from the class will help us continue making improvements to our 111 year-old Curdsville Community Center.    INVITE A FRIEND! \nALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME!    No experience needed to complete your very own barn quilt.  In this class you will be instructed on how to tape and paint your board so that once completed you will have a beautiful 2’x2’ barn quilt!  Your creation can be displayed indoors or out (on a shed\, back porch or on your barn).  Can’t think of a place to hang one?  How about painting one as a gift for that special friend. \nAll materials provided. SUMMARY:Wild about Bats!
DESCRIPTION:As the sun dips low and the night draws near\, we humans usually turn in for the night…but this is show-time for bats! Join us to celebrate these amazing animals during this special series in collaboration with Bat Conservation & Rescue of Virginia. You’ll get a rare chance to come face-to-face with these mysterious creatures\, learn all about them from local bat rehabilitators\, and identify bats in flight using specialized sound-detecting equipment. \nThis program will be conducted under a covered shelter with seating and includes optional slow-paced walking. The evening will begin with an informational talk about these unique animals\, bat-themed crafts\, and face painting\, and conclude with a walk to detect bats as they come out for early-evening hunting. You will also have the opportunity to meet one the Bat Conservation & Rescue of Virginia’s rehabilitated bats! \nPlease meet at Shelter #4. Suitable for all ages. Bring binoculars if you have them\, and if you decide to bring a light please use it on a red light setting to avoid disturbing nocturnal wildlife. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather and bring a water bottle with you.
